Hollywood marriages often seem to fizzle fast, but Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have proven that lasting love isn’t just a fairytale—it’s possible with a little effort, a sense of humor, and maybe even… separate bathrooms?

During a recent appearance on Today With Jenna and Friends, Gellar, 48, stunned hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Tiffany Haddish with the surprisingly “simple” key to her 22-year marriage: “Separate bathrooms!”

Hager was visibly surprised. “That’s it? It’s that simple?” she asked. Gellar nodded and replied with confidence, “It’s that simple.”

The couple's love story began in 1997 when they met while filming the cult thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer. Though their romance didn’t spark immediately, they began dating in 2000 and tied the knot two years later in a beautiful ceremony in Mexico. Since then, they’ve welcomed two children: Charlotte, now 15, and Rocky, 12.

Haddish joined in the lighthearted moment, joking that the advice reminded her of I Love Lucy, where Lucy and Ricky had twin beds they could push together or apart. Gellar laughed, saying she hadn’t considered that, but called it “actually a really good idea.”

This isn’t the first time Gellar has touted the benefits of boundaries in marriage. In a 2017 appearance on the Harry talk show, she explained, “There are certain things that should just be kept to yourself, and they never need to know.” She even added that couples might want to consider separate credit cards for hobbies, particularly for things like gaming expenses. “So I don’t have to see how much video games cost,” she joked.

But behind the humor is a deeper truth about what it takes to build a marriage that lasts. In a December 2024 interview with Fox News Digital, Gellar got serious about the challenges couples face today. “You have to put the work in,” she said. “Whether it’s a friendship, a work relationship, or a marriage—everything takes work.”

She also criticized what she sees as a “disposable” mindset in modern culture. “Your phone breaks, you don’t fix it. You get a new one,” she explained. “And I think that’s a lot of the attitude toward relationships.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. has always been confident their love would last—even betting on it. Prior to their wedding, he appeared on The Howard Stern Show and made a million-dollar bet with Stern, who predicted the marriage wouldn’t go the distance. On their 20th anniversary, Gellar cheekily reposted the clip on Instagram, tagging the host and writing, “@SternShow, I think you owe us.”

In a world where celebrity relationships often make headlines for all the wrong reasons, Gellar and Prinze Jr. stand out as a refreshing example of commitment, grace, and intentional love. Whether it’s separate sinks or shared laughter, their story reminds us that sometimes the simplest things make the biggest difference.

Man’s Rant About Wife’s Backseat Driving Sparks Online Debate https://www.familytoday.com/relationships/mans-rant-about-wifes-backseat-driving-sparks-online-debate/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 21:35:29 +0000 https://www.familytoday.com/?p=71443 'Hostility goes beyond backseat driving,' one commenter said.

What starts as a routine car ride for some couples can quickly turn into a bumpy emotional road. That’s exactly what one frustrated husband described in a Reddit post that’s now gone viral—sparking conversation about boundaries, criticism, and the importance of mutual respect in relationships.

“For years after we got married, I could never figure out why I would be so angry and moody any time my wife and I went somewhere,” he wrote. “Then it finally clicked. I was only in a bad mood if I drove with my wife.”

The reason? “My wife is the absolute worst backseat driver I have ever seen,” he declared.

According to the post, his wife critiques everything about his driving.“Why did you go this way?” she asks. “You're driving too fast.” He added that she often complains about how he parks, uses his blinker, and even how he accelerates.

Fed up, the husband said he took a bold step: “So, for the past couple of years, I have refused to drive. I now make her do all the driving. And lo and behold, I’m no longer a grumpy person when we travel.”

But the arrangement hit a speed bump. His wife recently asked him to split driving duties 50/50. He agreed—briefly. “She couldn't last three minutes without criticizing my driving,” he wrote. “I pulled over and told her I'm done. Either she takes over driving or we're going home.” She eventually drove, but not without another jab: “She muttered that I drive like a moron,” he said, adding, “Even though there’s only one of us who has tickets and has at-fault accidents on their record, and it’s not me.”

Reddit users quickly chimed in with support and snark. “It sounds like you came up with a perfectly reasonable solution,” one wrote. Another added, “This hostility goes beyond backseat driving. She sounds like a very angry person.” One even joked, “Secretly record her as you are driving and then play it as she is driving. Let her hear herself complain the whole way.”

Dr. Kathy Nickerson, a clinical psychologist, told Fox News Digital that the problem isn’t just about driving—it’s about respect and emotional safety. “We all need to feel emotionally safe,” she said. “If your partner’s coping strategy is to externalize their discomfort by criticizing you, that’s something they need to take responsibility for and work on.”

She added that boundaries like the one this husband set aren’t selfish, but healthy: “Constant criticism chips away at connection and sends the message that one person’s comfort matters more than the relationship itself.”

Whether it’s behind the wheel or in daily life, mutual respect and kindness are key to navigating marriage. After all, love isn’t about who’s in the driver’s seat—it’s about how we treat each other on the journey.

Chet Hanks is deeply thankful for the support and love of his parents, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

In a recent episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show," the actor and musician opened up about his journey to sobriety and how much his family has influenced his ability to stay on the right path.

While speaking with Drew Barrymore, Chet revealed that he has been one hundred percent sober for over three years. Barrymore, who also lives an alcohol-free life, shared that her family and friends were a significant source of encouragement for her, helping her remain committed to her decision. "What I’ve learned along the way is that family, whether it’s blood or found, do make you feel shy and embarrassed when you’re not doing the right things and the most proud when you are," she explained.

Chet reflected on his own experiences, crediting his parents for standing by him no matter the circumstances. "I don’t take it for granted. I’m really, really grateful for both my parents. I’m at the age where I’m just really grateful for them, he said. I really cherish the time that I have spent with them."

Chet, who is now part of the country music duo Something Out West, recently debuted their first single, "Leaving Hollywood." Over the years, he has been open about his past struggles with substance use, talking about his time in rehab and how he has worked hard to maintain his sobriety despite facing setbacks along the way.

In a 2024 episode of "The Surreal Life," Chet shared that he reached rock bottom after a three-day coke binge. That experience pushed him to return to rehab and seek the help he desperately needed. "I just knew, man, if I don’t change my life in a drastic way, either I’m not even going to be around or something bad, so bad, is going to happen that my life might as well be over," he said during that episode.

In reflecting on his life now, Chet also touched on his family’s strong ties to Hollywood and how he feels his acting career was meant to be. But he emphasized to PEOPLE that his sobriety is the foundation that allows him to pursue his work and passions.

"It’s not difficult at all, he said, referring to staying sober. What’s difficult is when you’re trying to manage your life and you’re not sober, that’s what’s difficult. When you just commit and decide and you stick to it, it’s not even something that you negotiate with. It’s just a non-negotiable. And life becomes extremely easy."

A tragic crash in Brooklyn has left a family shattered and a community in mourning after a mother and her two young daughters were killed by a driver who later claimed she was “possessed.”

Miriam Yarimi, 35, a wigmaker with a social media presence flaunting luxury and success, is facing manslaughter charges following the Saturday afternoon wreck in Gravesend. Dashcam footage captured the chilling moment her Audi, sporting the vanity plate “WIGM8KER,” struck 32-year-old Natasha Saada and her daughters, Diana, 7, and Deborah, 5, as they were crossing the street after leaving Shabbat services. Saada’s 4-year-old son, Philip, remains in critical condition.

Sources say Yarimi told first responders from Hatzolah ambulance service that she was “possessed” and “had the devil in me,” before being transported to Bellevue Hospital’s prison ward for psychiatric evaluation. She refused to speak to police, requesting a lawyer instead.

Yarimi, a mother herself, has a troubling history behind the wheel. Online records show over 93 traffic violations, including 20 speeding tickets and five red-light infractions — some in school zones. Her license had been suspended at the time of the crash.

Beyond her driving record, Yarimi’s past includes a $2 million settlement from the NYPD, stemming from a lawsuit in which she alleged she was sexually assaulted by a police officer at the age of 14. More recently, she shared posts online showing off her Audi and high-end lifestyle, describing how she “built” her dream car just a year after being broke.

After a funeral for Natasha Saada and her daughters, Diana, 7, and Deborah, 5, their bodies were flown to Israel for burial. Saada’s son, 4-year-old Philip, was also critically hurt in the crash.

This heartbreaking event has not only devastated a family, but also raised urgent questions about how a driver with such a record remained on the road. As investigations continue, a community prays for healing—and justice.

Megan Fox is entering a new chapter of motherhood with open arms and a full heart. On March 27, the 38-year-old actress welcomed her fourth child—a baby girl—with ex-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker), marking their first child together.

The joyful news was shared by MGK in a tender black-and-white video on Instagram, where he can be seen holding his newborn daughter’s tiny hand. “She’s finally here!! Our little celestial seed,” he wrote, adding, “3/27/25.” He later revealed that close friend Travis Barker helped “compose the score of the birth,” calling the experience “an epic journey.”

Though Fox and MGK ended their engagement in late 2024, just weeks after announcing the pregnancy, the actress is embracing motherhood with renewed strength. Already a devoted mom to three boys—Noah, 12, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 8—with ex-husband Brian Austin Green, Fox is focusing on her children and the joys of raising them, even amid life’s changes.

"She just wants to focus on the baby and her boys now," a source shared. "She’s doing okay. She’s very excited about the baby."

Fox’s path to this moment hasn’t been easy. In 2023, the couple suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage. “It was very difficult for both of us,” Fox shared on Good Morning America, describing the emotional and spiritual journey it led them on. But out of that pain came hope, and now, healing.

Despite their breakup, MGK seems committed to growing as a father. In the past, he’s spoken about wanting to build a strong connection with his children—something he didn’t have with his own parents. “When I’m with her, nothing else matters,” he once said of his older daughter.

Fox, too, has been candid about the complexities of motherhood, including navigating co-parenting and managing the ever-present mom guilt. “I can only have [my kids] half the time,” she shared in 2022. “But you always struggle with the guilt, kind of feeling like, ‘I haven’t done enough.’”

Still, her love for her children is unwavering—and fierce. When her eldest son began wearing dresses at a young age, Fox made it clear her priority was her child’s well-being, not public opinion. “I can’t control the way other people react to my children,” she said. “But I’m so proud of my kids.”

As she begins this new season of life with four little ones to love, Megan Fox is embracing motherhood on her own terms—gracefully, powerfully, and with her heart wide open.

Josh Allen Shuts Down Reporter’s Ring Upgrade Question After New NFL Deal: ‘She’s Happy With It’ https://www.familytoday.com/relationships/josh-allen-shuts-down-reporters-ring-upgrade-question-after-new-nfl-deal-shes-happy-with-it/ Tue, 25 Mar 2025 13:38:59 +0000 https://www.familytoday.com/?p=71167 Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld announced their engagement in November 2024.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had an unexpected moment of levity during his first press conference following the announcement of his massive new contract extension. While the focus was primarily on his six-year, $330 million deal, one reporter caught Allen off guard with a surprising—and personal—question: Would the payday lead to an upgrade on fiancée Hailee Steinfeld’s engagement ring?

Earlier this week, Allen signed a record-setting extension that includes an astounding $250 million in guaranteed money, securing his future with the Bills and making him one of the highest-paid players in NFL history. The deal is expected to keep Allen in Buffalo for the remainder of his career, something the veteran quarterback has openly hoped for.

Though Allen now ranks among the NFL’s elite earners, he showed a grounded perspective when asked about the contract’s staggering numbers.

“It’s strange to say, but what’s an extra $5 million going to do for me that I can’t already do?” Allen said. “It didn’t seem like a huge deal to me. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t negatively affect the team’s salary cap.”

While the financials made headlines, it was the unexpected ring question that brought some lightheartedness to the press conference.

“A bigger ring, you said?” Allen responded, laughing. “No, I think she’s happy with the one she has.”

Allen and actress Hailee Steinfeld got engaged in November along the scenic California coastline. The two were first linked in the spring of 2023 and have kept their relationship largely private. However, Steinfeld recently joined Allen for a rare public appearance at the NFL Honors, where the couple walked the red carpet together.

Reflecting on this exciting chapter in his personal life, Allen spoke with heartfelt appreciation.

“I feel incredibly blessed with everything happening in my life, especially finding the person I want to spend it with,” he said. “Once you have that part of your life figured out, it feels like everything else just falls into place.”

Allen’s off-field joy complements what has been a career-defining year on the field. The Bills’ franchise QB earned the 2024–2025 NFL MVP award following a standout season. He recorded 41 total touchdowns—one of which came as a receiver—and threw just six interceptions, the lowest mark of his career.

Buffalo finished the regular season with 13 wins and another playoff berth, though they ultimately fell short of a Super Bowl appearance. Still, Allen’s leadership and performance reaffirmed his status as one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks—and now, one of its most committed.

With his future secured in Buffalo and his relationship with Steinfeld stronger than ever, Allen’s life appears to be firing on all cylinders.

The former coach of a high school girls' basketball team who was dismissed after being filmed pulling a player’s ponytail has spoken publicly for the first time since the incident.

Jim Zullo, 81, was captured on video pulling the ponytail of Northville High School standout Hailey Monroe following a championship game. The footage, which quickly spread online, sparked widespread attention and criticism.

In a statement shared with WNYT on March 23rd, Zullo expressed deep remorse over his actions in the aftermath of Northville’s loss to La Fargeville. “I want to offer my sincerest apologies to Hailey and her family,” he said, also extending his apology to the entire team and staff at Northville Central Schools.

“As a coach, under no circumstance is it acceptable to put my hands on a player, and I am truly sorry,” Zullo stated. “I wish I could have those moments back.”

He went on to share his appreciation for his time coaching the team, particularly during what he described as a difficult time for his family. “I am super proud of every one of these young women and what they accomplished,” he said. “I know each of them will go on to do great things, and I wish them well.”

According to reports, the incident occurred after Monroe fouled out of the game. As she stood visibly upset on the sidelines, Zullo approached and pulled her ponytail—a moment clearly seen in the video. The footage also shows another player stepping in, appearing to place herself between Zullo and Monroe.

WNYT later identified the player who intervened as Ahmya Tompkins, one of Zullo’s nieces and a member of the team.

In a separate statement to ABC affiliate News 10, Zullo claimed that Monroe had directed an expletive at him after he instructed her to shake hands with the opposing team.

After the video began circulating on social media, the Northville Central School District issued a statement condemning Zullo’s behavior. “This individual will no longer be coaching for the Northville Central School District,” the statement read, adding that the district found the conduct “deeply disturbing.”

George Clooney is opening up about what changed his mind about marriage and kids after years of being adamantly against both.

His life now as a husband and father is a far cry from what the Oscar-winning actor used to say about the possibilities. For years, he was a confirmed bachelor with no intention of starting a family. Now, he is opening up more about what changed and how he has felt since then.

"I wasn’t really looking to become a dad," he shared with The New York Times in a recent interview. "Then I met Amal, and we fell in love. I have to say that after that, everything fell into place."

Clooney first met Amal Clooney (formerly Alamuddin) at Lake Como in Italy back in 2013. He told the Times that his agent, Bryan Lourd, had met the international human rights lawyer before Clooney did and remarked, "You’re going to marry her." Clooney dismissed the idea—until he saw her.

"I was like, ‘Oh my God!’" the Oceans Eleven actor said. "Then I thought I wouldn’t have much of a chance with her because I was 17 years older and she seemed to have everything she needed."

They had a swift romance and got married in Venice, Italy, in September 2014.

The pair welcomed twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017. Clooney confessed that he was initially scared about becoming a father to two children.

"We went to that appointment at 12 weeks where they say, there’s the kid. [To] look at the picture of the kid," Clooney recalled during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2022.

"And [the doctor] says, ‘It’s a boy.’ Then he says, ‘And a girl.’ And I was like, ‘What?’" Clooney continued. "It felt overwhelming. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’"

"Now, it’s the best thing in the world," he added. "But I was really scared at first."

When Barrymore asked Clooney why he was so afraid, he was straightforward in his response. "Well, I was 56 years old, he said. And that just sounded really scary to me."

In season 22 of American Idol, contestant Emmy Russell delivered a heartfelt tribute to her late grandmother, Loretta Lynn, with a performance of the iconic song Coal Miner's Daughter. However, if it had been up to Russell, she would have chosen not to sing the track at all.

Despite delivering an emotional and heartfelt performance, Russell admitted that she was initially frustrated when judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie selected the song for her.

During an episode of The Thrivalist Podcast with Jamie George, Russell explained her mixed feelings about the song choice. "On American Idol, I sang my grandma's song. The judges chose three songs, and the only one I knew was Coal Miner's Daughter. I was already dealing with so much and trying to be brave, and I just remember feeling really angry," she shared. Her other song options were Here You Come Again by Dolly Parton, and Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall, but she felt uneasy about performing her grandmother’s song, fearing it would contribute to perceptions of favoritism due to Lynn’s legendary status in country music.

Loretta Lynn, who passed away in October 2022 at the age of 90, left behind a musical legacy that deeply influenced Russell. When Russell saw Coal Miner's Daughter on the list, she felt a deep sadness as she was still mourning her grandmother’s passing. "It’s my grandma’s song. There’s nothing closer to the heart than family. I know Coal Miner’s Daughter so well, and I wanted to perform it as a tribute, like giving her a hug. I was just a granddaughter singing to her grandma. I need to be proud that I'm Loretta Lynn's granddaughter."

Despite her initial frustration, Russell ultimately decided to move forward with the performance, feeling a quiet inner prompting to continue. "I just felt a quiet voice telling me, 'I need you to stay, and I need you to show up,'" she said. She prepared the song on the piano just as she had envisioned it. Inspired by The Hunger Games, she motivated herself by imagining she was Katniss Everdeen.

Her touching rendition secured her a spot in the Top 7, and she eventually finished in the Top 5 of the competition, with Abi Carter winning the season. Reflecting on the experience, Russell said the performance marked a turning point in her relationship with her family's legacy. "This was the first time I felt proud to be part of my family. With family, there's a blessing but also a challenge. I closed my eyes and told her, 'I'm proud of you.' I hope that song helped others feel proud of their roots, too. I'm really thankful."

Music has been a part of Russell’s life since childhood. "I'm a songwriter," she shared in a video on American Idol. "It's in my blood. I wrote my first real song when I was about 9." She described songwriting as an emotional process, saying, "Sharing a song is a very vulnerable experience. Whatever I feel, I write. It just flows out of me. I turn to my iPhone and my piano – they are my closest companions when it comes to music. If I feel a melody, I record it on my iPhone. If it's a lyric, I do the same."

Her grandmother also played a significant role in shaping her musical journey. In an interview on Southern Living’s Biscuits & Jam podcast, Russell recalled a touching moment when Loretta Lynn passed down her guitar to her at age 15 during a performance at the Ryman Auditorium. "Memaw, as I called her, handed down her guitar to me and said, ‘You’re the one that can do it.’ Ever since I was little, she saw something special in me and felt the need to pass the guitar to me like a torch. Lord knows if I can handle that. It's a lot to take on."

Since her time on Idol, Russell has continued her musical journey while embracing new personal milestones. She and her partner, Tyler Ward, welcomed their first child, a daughter, in late January. Russell faced complications during childbirth and required a blood transfusion after losing 1.6 liters of blood.

Through it all, Russell has come to fully embrace her identity as Loretta Lynn's granddaughter while carving out her own path in the music industry. Her journey on American Idol was not just about competition but about honoring her grandmother’s legacy and finding her own voice in country music.

President Trump Signs Executive Order Banning Transgender Athletes From Girls’ and Women’s Sports https://www.familytoday.com/living/president-trump-signs-executive-order-banning-transgender-athletes-from-girls-and-womens-sports/ Thu, 13 Feb 2025 22:40:25 +0000 https://www.familytoday.com/?p=70601 The order is titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports."

The post President Trump Signs Executive Order Banning Transgender Athletes From Girls’ and Women’s Sports appeared first on FamilyToday.

]]>
President Trump has enacted an executive order designed to prevent transgender women from participating in women's sports under Title IX, utilizing the potential withdrawal of federal funding to enforce compliance.

During the East Room signing ceremony on February 5th at the White House, surrounded by numerous female athletes, Trump declared, "From now on, women’s sports will be only for women." He further warned, "If you let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms, you will be investigated for violations of Title IX and risk your federal funding."

The directive instructs the Education Department to "take all appropriate action to affirmatively protect all-female athletic opportunities and all-female locker rooms," clarifying that "women’s sports are reserved for women." It also mandates resolving existing lawsuits in a manner "consistent with this policy."

Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security is tasked with denying visas to "men attempting to fraudulently enter the United States while identifying themselves as women athletes," a measure highlighted by Trump as the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles approach. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been directed to communicate to the International Olympic Committee that "America rejects transgender lunacy."

Title IX, enacted in 1972, prohibits sex-based discrimination in educational institutions receiving federal funds. Over the years, it has been instrumental in expanding women's sports programs, contributing to the popularity of events like women's basketball, soccer, and softball.

Trump's order states, "In recent years, many educational institutions and athletic associations have allowed men to compete in women’s sports. This is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, and denies women and girls the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports."

A White House official noted, "On his first day in office, Joe Biden signed an executive order calling on schools across the country to allow students to compete in the sport of their ‘gender identity.’ That is a slap in the [face] to [the] countless female athletes who dedicate tremendous effort to be the best in their sport, only to be forced to compete with biological men."

NCAA President Charlie Baker responded, "We strongly believe that clear, consistent, and uniform eligibility standards would best serve today’s student-athletes instead of a patchwork of conflicting state laws and court decisions. To that end, President Trump’s order provides a clear, national standard. The NCAA Board of Governors is reviewing the executive order and will take necessary steps to align NCAA policy in the coming days, subject to further guidance from the administration."

This move aligns with Trump's campaign promise to prohibit male participation in women's sports, a topic that has garnered national attention due to cases like Penn swimmer Lia Thomas's setting new records in collegiate competition.
