Translated and adapted by David Hall from the original article "25 Coisas Legais para Fazer com seu Conjuge" by Carla Pinheiro Alves.

"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."This famous phrase from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery teaches us about the importance of spending time with those we love. In the end, if we do not have time for them, then they must not be important to us.

In order for a rose to survive, beautiful and well perfumed, it must be taken care of, watered correctly, and given the right amounts of sunlight and shade. In The Little Prince, the Little Prince constantly cares for his rose during his travels. He always remembers it and tells others about it. The Little Prince misses his rose so much that he returns frequently to his little planet to see it.

Married life can be compared to the Little Prince and his rose. Your spouse is your little rose, the amount of time and talents you invest in your "rose" demonstrates how important she is to you.

Dedicate more time to your spouse and you will find that your relationship will blossom. Here are 25 simple ideas of activities you can do with your spouse.

1. Go for a walk

Put on a pair of shoes and set out on a new adventure. A little fresh air and some conversation will always make her day.

2. Work-out

Lift weights, do jiu-jitsu or go swimming. Find some physical activity you can do together.

3. Photography

Grab a camera and let the creativity flow. Taking pictures together not only creates memories, but also is a lot of fun.

4. Try a new restaurant

If you have not tried it, experiment, it is always good to try new flavors. Try Japanese, Italian, Mexican or some other foreign food you have never tried.

5. Play video games

Video games are all the craze today. Try playing something active like Kinect or Wii-Sports. Besides having fun, you will sweat a little.

6. Football

Go watch live football. Pick a team and follow them through the ranks. Cheering together will bring you closer together. Other sports, such as basketball or soccer are also great options.

7. Theme Parks

Go visit a theme park. Besides just rides, most offer theatrical presentations and mini shopping malls. Don't forget to ride the Ferris-wheel for a super romantic evening!

8. Water Park

Imagine a warm, summer day, spending time with your spouse, getting wet on slippery water slides. Once you are done with the rides, you can simply relax in the lazy river, bathe in the sun or play around in the pools.

9. Zoos

Zoos are great places to visit for those that enjoy animals.

10. Circus

The circus provides you with a great opportunity for a laugh together.

11. Board games

There are just under an infinite number of board games out there, so it is easy to pick one that both you and your spouse enjoy.

12. Hikes

Many couples like to climb mountains, explore caves or swim under a waterfall. So, get out on the trails.

13. Ride your bikes

Use a helmet and have a fun ride! Do this often.

14. Stroll through the plaza or city center

This idea may seem simple, but it is still very romantic. Make good use of your time and do not forget to try the free samples. There is always something being sold around there. Try a fruit smoothie or a hot chocolate, depending on the weather.

15. Ice cream

While dating, young couples always go to eat ice cream. The simplicity is romantic.

16. Candle-light dinner

Prepare a dinner to be eaten together in the dim, romantic candle light.

17. Movies

Watch a gooey chick-flick or any other kind of movie that the two of you can enjoy together.

18. Learn another language

Register yourselves in a language class together. You will not only have a good time, but you will also learn another language.

19. Start a new hobby

A new hobby could include anything from collecting baseball cards to croquet. Whatever it is, it will be an opportunity to create a new family tradition that could last for years.

20. Adopt an animal

Any kind of pet is a great addition to the family. What is most important is the love and care the two of you will put into it together.

21. Museums

Visit a museum that interests you. Have fun appreciating, up close, things you enjoy or would like to know more about.

22. Go to a fair

It does not matter what kind of fair it is, be it a harvest festival or car show. What is important, however, is getting out there and having a good time together.

23. Visit a spa

Take a day off to relax together and get some well-deserved rest.

24. Second honeymoon

It is definitely worth it to leave the kids with Grandma May or Aunt Bertha, while you reserve a hotel and a weekend for just the two of you.

25. Visit a church

All men (and women) need the opportunity to communicate with that Supreme Being that they believe in. Create precious memories as you take the time to worship together.

These are small things to do with your spouse, your most important person, your rose. Use these ideas to increase the time you have dedicated to just her.

8 fun things to do with your spouse

Tag your hubby or wifey if any of these activities sound fun!

In spite of all the attacks on the idea of marriage, it makes me extremely happy to meet a couple that have been married for years. They are part of the group that actually believes in love, in the union of two people and their families and in marriage as a relationship destined for success and not the other way around.

Every anniversary should be celebrated, and 10 years of marriage deserves a special commemoration. It shows 10 years of being next to the one you love, lots of accomplishments, many battles won and you and your spouse are upholding one another together.

Here are some ideas for you to have a special celebration for your 10th anniversary:

Celebrate with family and friends

Have a party with decorations, cake, invitations and even presents. Invite your friends. Find a large area and go nuts in decorating or hire someone to decorate for you. Get a special cake - not just any cake, but something big for your 10th anniversary. Have options for food and drinks. Another great idea is to make a slideshow with pictures of the last 10 years that you have had together. Hire a band or DJ to play at your party.

Celebrate it together

Have a romantic dinner together by candlelight. Cook it yourself or go out to a fancy restaurant. Do not forget to dance to 'your song' or at least dance together in the moonlight. Don't forget gifts for one another.

Take a vacation

Make it the vacation that you two have always wanted to do. Plan ahead so you can take advantage of the deals that airlines and travel agencies run. Don't forget to thoroughly check out, the hotel, the package deal and anything else you would like to do on your trip. This will help you avoid confusion and huge hassles later.

Go on a cruise

A cruise in itself is super romantic. Going on a cruise for your 10th anniversary is a dream come true for many, many couples. Again, plan ahead to get a great deal. Buy it early and do your research on the companies that you are looking at.

Have a Family Dinner

If money is tight, it's worth inviting family and close friends to a nice dinner at home. Use your best tableware for the dinner, and don't forget the flowers! Make it an extremely special meal, whether you make it or you buy it. Take time to clean the house and again, make a slideshow of you and your spouse over the last 10 years.

With these tips you're sure to enjoy celebrating your 10th anniversary!

Congratulations!

10 signs that your spouse might be having an affair https://www.familytoday.com/relationships/10-signs-that-your-spouse-might-be-having-an-affair/ Sat, 06 Apr 2013 09:32:53 +0000 http://www.famifi.com/oc/10-signs-that-your-spouse-might-be-having-an-affair/ Trust is the foundation in a marriage. Unfortunately, sometimes that trust is challenged due to infidelity.

Marriage is the union of two people who are in love and have plans for a full life together that include goals, family, vacations, etc. Unfortunately, there sometimes exists a villain within all these plans and dreams - betrayal. Like a phantom, it affects many couples and disrupts an otherwise strong, peaceful marriage replacing trust with fear, distrust and anxiety.

Betrayal is something that no couple ever wants to go through, as it is always painful for everyone involved. This is a game where there are no winners.

After learning about an affair or betrayal, many couples have said that they found out that something (or many things) had changed in their relationship. Here are some signs to look for if you suspect that your spouse is having an affair.

Eye contact

Your eyes are the window to the soul. If your spouse is having an affair, he often won't make direct eye contact with you. The sparkle in his eyes changes or is nonexistent. Not looking at you at all is another sign.

Talking

The lack of interest in talking with you about day-to-day things, resolving problems or even losing interest in goals you have made together.

Lack of desire for intimacy

This can be attributed to several issues (daily routines, work and children), but it can also be a sign that your spouse is spending time with someone else.

The computer

Lots of betrayals and affairs begin on the computer. Pay attention to how long he is on the computer and the internet late at night and when he isn't working. Hiding and changing email passwords and hiding emails are big signs. Also, watch his reaction when you unexpectedly enter the room where he is using the computer.

Arriving home late or disappearing for long periods

When he says he will arrive at a certain time and he frequently doesn't and fails to provide a valid reason. Or he frequently says something like, "I'm going to the ATM, I will be back soon," and he doesn't return for long time.

Cell phone

One indication of potential infidelity is if he rarely (or never)never answers his cell phone when you call. When you are together and his cell phone rings, see if he immediately leaves the area to talk.

Sudden acts of kindness

If he randomly comes home with flowers or random acts of kindness without an explanation. This could mean that he feels guilty about something.

Budget

Be aware if your budget suddenly isn't working out. You might notice large, unexplained expenses that he either claims he knows nothing about or shows a lack of emotion about.

Fights

You are constantly fighting over everything - even seemingly small things that were never an issue before. Suddenly, he complains about everything, has little patience and is often angry when he comes home. This could me that he is attempting to justify his behavior by blaming problems on the person he is betraying.

Love (or the lack of)

He doesn't kiss you, hug you, or show his affection for you, or rarely says "I love you."

These are just some signs that could indicate that he is possibly having an affair, but not always. Lots of couples could be going through a crisis or some problems. Unfortunately, affairs and betrayals often start because of a crisis with the relationship such as financial issues. Do what you can to save your marriage, but be careful, never judge, and don't make the mistake of becoming paranoid. If you suspect an affair, don't guess, be certain about the situation before you make any decisions.
